State troopers patrolling Route 107 South in Revere just after midnight on Wednesday, Jan. 25, spotted a black 2017 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen a day before out of Taunton, State police said. Officers followed the car as it moved through Brown Circle Rotary and got onto Route 60 East toward Route 1A.
As more troopers arrived, they tried to pull the car over, but it sped away before crashing into a 2023 Subaru Outback near the Ted Williams Tunnel entrance, officials said. The five people inside the stolen vehicle tried to escape but were quickly caught.
Police arrested the following people inside the vehicle.
- Ailton Lopes, 20, of Brockton
- Jaylani Cole, 18, of Roxbury;
- Syncere Lindsay, 18, of Brockton
- Nia Owens, 19, of Lynn
- And a 17-year-old female from Lynn.
All are charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, troopers said. Lopes, who was driving, was also charged with failure to stop for police; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; operating after license suspension; and marked lanes violation.
